Svenja Ottovordemgentschenfelde is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Media and Communications at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her research investigates the role and impact of Twitter on journalistic practices, notions of professionalism and identities in an age of post-industrial journalism. Svenja’s thesis is composed of both quantitative (text-based and visual content analysis) and qualitative (expert interviews) elements which aim to connect the observable conditions of journalist’s Twitter engagement with underlying structures, incentives and strategies. Her work is supervised by Dr Bart Cammaerts and Dr Ellen Helsper.
On the one hand, Svenja’s main research interests include journalistic professionalism, news innovation and the future of journalism. On the other hand, The Class project has generated new interest in research around media literacies and children’s engagement with digital technologies.
