Biography

Tim Podkul is a Principal Research Scientist at SRI International’s Center for Technology in Learning. An applied anthropologist by training, his specialization is in mixed-methods research design with a theoretical and methodological expertise in social capital and social network analysis. Tim’s current research focuses on modeling social relationships in informal and formal settings that facilitate knowledge sharing and engagement in interest-driven learning. His experience includes assessment and evaluation of collaboratives and networks, informal science education partnerships, organizational analysis, cross-setting learning, and efforts to scale up research and bridge the gaps between research and practice. He currently serves as an instructor for NSF-funded workshops on social network analysis, and as an advisor for several research projects. Tim has been a Principle Investigator on grants funded by various organizations including the National Science Foundation and Department of Education, and was a William J. Fulbright scholar in Peru.
